CO2 emissions from the marine industry: how can shipping companies be greener?

What is the impact of the introduction of a system that reduces fuel consumption besides the economic effect
CO2 emissions from the marine industry
Very often, when discussing the effect of implementing a Fuel Optimization System, we are asked about greentech:

- How much does 5-10% of fuel economy on vessel affect the environment?
- What is the impact from the introduction of a system that reduces fuel consumption besides the economic effect?
- How significant is the environmental effect for the shipping company, in particular, the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere?

This is why all scientists are so concerned about the environment and where the huge amount of greenhouse gases come from. Let's recall school chemistry: the atomic mass of carbon is 12, the atomic mass of oxygen is 16. The main greenhouse gas is CO2 = C + O + O = 44. It turns out that during combustion, 1 carbon atom gives almost 3.5 masses of greenhouse gas, due to addition of oxygen
CO2 emissions from the marine industry
There are 50-70% of carbon in one kilogram of fuel, which means (avoiding calculations as promised), a kilogram of fuel gives 1.7 - 2.7 kilograms of greenhouse gases. That's about 2-2.5 cubic meters of gas per 1 kg of fuel.

global CO2 emissions
The global shipping fleet, which accounts for 2.2% of global CO2 emissions and about 90% of global merchandise traffic, is under increasing pressure to reduce these emissions and other forms of pollution. In real numbers, the shipping industry consumes about 400 million tons of fuel per year, so even saving "insignificant" 5-10% will reduce about 40-100 million tons of greenhouse gases. That's why we are running the FOS (fuel optimization system) project.

Аdvantage of Fuel Optimization System from Marine Digital:
Marine Digital FOS can be integrated with other system and third-party's solutions through the API. To implement vessel performance monitoring for any vessel, we are using mathematical algorithms, machine learning and the same equipment as in FOS. The more data we collect from vessels, the more precise reports and recommendations our system will perform according to your individual requirements in fleet management.
